Abstract :

Application of advanced analytics to industrial problems in aerospace include areas ranging from maintenance, reliability, material sciences, workplace safety, airplane safety, supply chain management, and factory floor quality. These challenges require addressing such things as defining the problem, identifying, acquiring, cleaning, structuring the data from multiple sources & formats, and more importantly communicating the results. In this presentation we will discuss selection of the appropriate analysis methods (e.g., paired-analysis) and tools (e.g., Tableau, IN-SPIRE, Starlight, SPSS, SAS, R, and Python) as well as challenges in finding resources with the required technical skills (technology & data structures), analytical skills to perform the analysis while managing stakeholder expectations.

Profile :
Ahmad R. Yaghoobi is a Technical Fellow of the Boeing Company in Information Technology (IT). Ahmad has over 29 years of Boeing IT experience ranging from software development, design, architecture, enterprise architecture, and analytics. He has supported multiple business units (i.e., commercial airplanes. Military airplanes, aftermarket & support services, as well as subsidiaries and partners. Ahmad is the Boeing IT technical leader for the advanced analytics, he is establishing the strategy, standards, methods and tools required to enable effective application of analytics to Boeing challenges. Ahmad has been active in visual analytics (VA) since 2006 and has developed expertise in VA methods & tools performing business driven analysis on a variety of problems across Boeing. Ahmad has been the technical leader to two Canadian universities (UBC & SFU) and has been providing research direction and mentoring to interns & externs on key Boeing projects as part of Boeing offset grant. Ahmad has a B.S. in Computer Science (CS) from Oregon State University and Master of Software Engineering (MSE) from Seattle University. Ahmad also has Information Assurance Certification from Cal Poly, Enterprise Architecture Certification (CEA) from Carnegie Mellon, and is a Certified Fujitsu Macroscope Methodology. He is certified in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), SOA Consultant, SOA Security, and The Open Group's Architecture Framework (TOGAF) 8.1 and TOGAF 9.
