An Actionable Prediction Pipeline for Mobile Games

Abstract :

Making accurate and timely predictions of player behavior is critical to making a mobile game profitable. In this talk, Dennis O’Brien will outline the pipeline he developed at Idle Games, from user game data to actionable predictions, including player lifetime value, likelihood to monetize, and likelihood to churn. There are many challenges in free-to-play games: the extremely skewed distribution of player monetization; the changing nature of a game; and the challenges inherent in predicting human behavior. He will discuss machine learning techniques, technology stacks, and communication best practices.
