Rapid IoT applications with Cloud Foundry, MongoDB, Twitter API &Twilio

Abstract :

Unstructured and structured data are colliding at an accelerating pace. So what is the difference between the way companies are taking advantage of the data explosion and your very own organizations? We recognized three dimensions of data-driven competitive advantage: • Silo data. Most organizations already use unstructured data. For example, most companies monitor social media for tracking brand value and targeting specific customer segments. • Mixed Derivatives. Some organizations are now blending the unstructured data with the structured data in supplementing data science models. • Collaborative app development. Very few organizations are re-purposing their data sets, web services and applications across various lines of business and multiple development teams. I estimate that only 1-3% of organizations using all three dimensions. After helping three Fortune 500 companies build new business models using data-driven applications, I believe that 80% of business value lays in combining all three dimensions together. In this talk you will learn how to deploy an open-source platform for data-driven competitive advantage that uses all three levers of data success. We will be using Cloud Foundry, an open source PaaS as a foundation of the platform. In the 2nd part of the session, we will demonstrate the platform how to develop, deploy and load-test a web application that combines device data, sentiment analysis of Twitter feeds, documents stored in MongoDB, customer database stored in MySQL, and Twilio SMS notifications.
