Marketing analytics to me is a field that leverages methods, algorithms and ideas from other scientific fields to optimize customer acquisition, retention and satisfaction.
But applying analytics requires leadership –the ability to influence decisions- with data, and requires senior managers to empower the work force to leverage each individual’s strengths.
At Facebook, we routinely work with very large datasets to drive product decisions; we communicate insights with visualization tools, schedule jobs to move data and perform statistical analysis.
In this talk, I will illustrate a few cases where analytics helped to create a smart work place, how we quantify the success of new consumer products and how we are empowered to use powerful tools and make an impact on the world
