Abstract
Described by many as the new electricity, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is heralding a new marketing paradigm. Katie King examines the future impact of AI on digital marketing and the many tools and vendors who are already disrupting their world. Today, narrow AI can automate repetitive, standardised, time-consuming tasks, providing what PwC labels ‘assisted intelligence.’ The AI which is emerging could be described as augmented intelligence, and it could fundamentally change the nature of work for digital marketers. It will see humans and machines collaborate to make decisions. Emotional intelligence, creativity, persuasion and innovation therefore become the more valuable, unique human traits. Ultimately, we could face a world where adaptive continuous intelligent systems take over decision-making, bringing into question the future of humans in the workplace. This is known as autonomous intelligence.
