Deep Mind the Future of Artificial Intelligence Posted on : Nov 28 - 2016
DeepMind is the world leader in artificial intelligence research and its application for positive impact. We’re on a scientific mission to push the boundaries of AI, developing programs that can learn to solve any complex problem without needing to be taught how.
Over time, the insights gleaned from the industries currently taking advantage of AI and improving the technology along the way will make it ever more robust and useful within a growing range of applications. Organizations that can afford to invest heavily in AI.
Approaches to AI
1) Learning vs Handcrafted
The idea of learning Systems. Systems that learn directly from their experience or from more data versus handcrafted heuristic systems so systems where they've been specifically pre-pragramd with a particular solution to a problem
2) General vs Specific
Many systems are is they're handcrafted & they're built for one particular purpose in mind what we're interested in mind the idea of generally one system hat out of the box are can do a wide range of tasks
3) Grounded vs Logic Based
What we mean here is that we think that for a true thinking machine to be able to think about & achieve high & tasks they need to be grounded in the sensor motor reality they have to experience the world around them through their senses & ground the Knowledge that they acquire ground in the sensor imotor experience and appose to that logic base system or symbolic systems they are encoded and the problem with those systems is when they intract with the outside world with real events they find it very difficult to map the logic knowledge they have to these real- world messy situations that they find them self.
4) Active vs Passive
Lot of AI Systems that you will be using today that you use every day like image recognition Voice recognition the kind of passive observation systems they get in some data and then they try and classify that data in some sense what we should instead is active agents so our agents that have a goal in mind that actually direct have actions they undertake and direct their own learning to actually decide what should explore
How does deep mind work
Deep Mind uses a technique called deep reinforcement learning which makes it very different from other AIS such as IBM'S Watson or the primitive Serio google now the AI is just mentioned were only developed for predefined purpose and only function within their scope deep mind claims that their system is not pre-programmed and it learns from experience using only raw pixels as data input
Technically the reinforcement that deep mind users is model free meaning that it doesn't need a structure or set of rule to learn according to MIT is take on the Google algorithm the neural network in theory should be able access an external memory in a manner that mimics the short-term memory of the human brain in a way it almost seems like our brains design might be the most efficient way for the creation of local intelligence
Goal of Deep Mind
To solve the intelligence by combining the best techniques for machine learning and systems neuroscience to build powerful general-purpose learning algorithms the end game is not just to implement this into machines but also understand human brain. Damage Explains Further quite attempting to distill intelligence into an algorithmic Construct may prove to be the best path to understanding some of the enduring mysteries of our minds.
