Ukd and ukonvrt: a runtime and a tool for unikernel application lifecycle management

The talk presents two new Open Source projects, ukd and ukonvrt, aimed at enabling adoption of unikernel technology by emerging product use cases in IoT space. We will discuss IoT Edge application needs from underlying infrastructure platform, and demonstrate how ukd and ukonvrt can help meet these needs using unikernels. Linux dev environment recommended for hands on portion of the talk, but not necessary.
 

Rean is a Systems­ Researcher interested in cloud computing, virtualization, resource management and machine learning. He spent 5 years in the Office of the CTO at VMware working on resource management (Network-aware DRS, Scalable Network Resource Management, SLO-driven autoscaling) and statistical machine learning (performance modeling and performance-problem diagnosis). He completed a post-doc in the RAD Lab at U.C. Berkeley in 2010 and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University in 2008.
